Thankful for the Years
Well, we, East Suffolk High alumnus, have come to the end of another year. I thank God for each day. Each year our alumni survivors get lesser and lesser. None of us know when our final day will come. All we know is that it will come.
If you are an alumni, you have truly been blessed. You have lived beyond three score years, and in some cases four score or more. We are blessed children.
Students from Three Decades Recently Passed
This month I reported the death of five alumnus. Students from the 40's, 50's and 60's were included. The youngest was only 64 years old and the oldest was in his 80's. In two cases, death came suddenly.
I was at the funeral service of the youngest,** James A. Bullock, last week. His pastor spoke about how he was looking forward to returning to the Suffolk area (living in N.C.) and just sitting back and relaxing. He worked over 40 years contributing to mankind, but the relaxing period never came on earth. Still, he lived a good christian life, and was content in his works.
Johnnie Mae Walltower, also passed away suddenly.
James and Johnnie Mae passing let us know that we should strive to live a good life, in the sight of God in the time we have left on earth.
Medical Alert
Remember, those little pains you feel, over and over, don't be hesitant to go to the doctor and check out what is going on in your body. You ain't that young anymore.
When I write this kind of stuff, chills run through my body because I know, well, I know that......
