DEATH: The end result is the same for the black race and the white race. But the Black race collectively get to the finish line faster and younger in Suffolk, VA
Our survey of deaths reported in the local media or otherwise, disclosed that about 7 out of every 10 deaths or 70%, in Suffolk, VA and vicinity, from June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2012 are Afro-Americans. The survey did not include persons twenty one (21) years of age and younger.
Within the black race, we also found that black males account for 70% of the reported deaths.
Why? I don't know. But I have an opinion. It could be the choice of food that we eat or the living habits that we adopt. This assertion does not mean that a person is doing something wrong or unlawful, but it does mean that he or she may be doing something that is not good for the body. Remember, "Everything that is good to you, may not be good for you." (geb logic 101).

Our survey showed that white folks lived longer. The average age for white adults were about 79 years; whereas, black adults were about 64 years. This trend has probably been consistent for many years. We just didn't pay any attention to it.
Looking back to my childhood days in Suffolk a lot of my friends and neighbors were dying young. Shucks, we thought that it was just natural. Age 45 was considered old. We didn't take into account all the pork and corn liquor our ancestors were consuming, and worries they were shackled with perpetually due to lack of jobs and discrimination.
Whenever, black persons died, their deaths were attributed to natural causes or heart failure in the media.. Real causes were not published. In truth, all deaths can be attributed to heart failure, because the heart stops beating at some point in all deaths.
In examining the local media publications, We used five (5) methods to determine the race of the deceased. If you follow our guideline you will probably be right 98 percent of the time. The guideline shows that:
(1) Funeral homes in practice, appear to be white only or black only.
(2) burial sites are mostly segregated.
(3) Churches are still mostly segregated, not by law, but by practice.
(4) published obituary writings for whites are generally written better.
(5) you can get some insight of race by observing where donations are to be sent or how they are to be managed.
My thought is, " The earthly end result is the same for the blacks, the whites and everybody else. But we can do more to extend the hand of time."
In closing, eat right, sleep tight, do right, and pray to see many more nights. (geb 101)
